2011 Cocktail Party
Saturday, February 19th
2011 marked our 6th annual cocktail party and very pleased to
be invited back to Los Alebrijes Condominiums to celebrate.
Thank you to all staff and residents for having us once again, we truly
appreciate it. Some of you may know that in the beginning, this very
special cocktail party was held to benefit the construction of the
orphanage. Now that it’s been completed, our funds raised of nearly
22,500.00 pesos from the party will now go towards the new van we are
hoping to purchase very soon.
This
year along with the ticket to the cocktail party, our guests were given
a very special keep-sake hand painted note card from all of the
children. With the help from Christy Beguesse of A Broken Art Mosaic
Studios in Bucerias, the beautiful creations were made especially to say
thank you for your continued support.
Also, a very special thank you
to Rigoberto, he has always provided us throughout the years with such
beautiful music and hope he will continue to do so. Also, for the
latter part of the evening Richard Gordon on the piano and
DeMeerleer on Bass, finished off
the night under the
stars and we hope to have them back next year too.
Without the food, what IS a cocktail
party? Thank you to all of the returning guests who contributed and to
the following restaurants, Ixta’s, Flaky’s, Eddies Beach Bar and
YoYoMo’s; we are grateful for your support throughout the years.
Lastly, a very special and sincere thank you to all of those who
volunteered for this event, without your hard work, it would not have
been possible.
Hamburger Feast 2011
Well the wonderful and generous people at Los Mangos Trailer Park did it
once again, not only do they know how to throw a great party but managed
to raise 75,000.00 pesos for Manos de Amor, Casa Hogar. It was a
beautiful night under the stars, we had a live auctioneer and karaoke
too. Just can't get any better than that. A great big THANK YOU to Los
Mangos Trailer Park, Norman & Darlene, Walter & Gerry, those who
attended and the volunteers who helped. I understand we had a record
breaker of “flipping” a little over 380 Hamburgers. Should say it...
Holy Cow!
Rhythm & Ribs 2011
A very special and sincere thank you....
The 7th Annual Rhythm & Ribs 2011 event for Manos de
Amor....exceeded expectations. It was a beautiful night underneath the
stars which provided an opportunity for all of us to shine. With ticket
sales opening at 5:30pm the emcees kept the momentum going until 10:00pm
This year we had over 30 restaurants, businesses and residents serving
food, raffle prizes, outstanding performances from local dance groups
and an over the top Silent Auction.
With the help of our volunteers and all the donors that made it possible
together we raised
164,280.00 pesos, which 100% of the proceeds goes directly to the
orphanage. Here is a break down of what was generated... food, beverage
and raffle sales were 99,010.00, donations along with Buddy Preston's
table 4,410.00, T-shirts 15,040.00, a record Silent Auction 32,460.00,
and to help push us over the top even more was the spirit of our 50/50
Raffle Team generating in total 26720.00.
Every person who volunteered during this premier event had a job to do
and did it with ease. Seems like a few of you have done this
before...Looking forward to next years Rhythm & Ribs as I have already
started my punch list of things to do. Through generous contributions
from donors like yourselves, you provide the financial and moral support
needed to continue the mission of Manos de Amor. We truly feel blessed.
Thank You, Muchas Gracias y Je Vous Remercie ...Casa Nicole
On an ongoing basis, the ladies of
Manos de Amor hold bazaars several times a month. Donated articles of
clothing and household items are sold at very reasonable prices to the
community and the proceeds go to support the shelter.
We have also been fortunate to be one of the benefiting
charities of the Puerto Vallarta Altruism Festival which is held in May
of each year. Food and drink are provided by local business. There is
non-stop entertainment for 3 hours. Only 24 charities are recipients of
the proceeds from this event. We hope to continue to be one of those
